Are you looking for a location near you that takes in rescue chinchillas? Do you think that adopting a rescue chin and giving it a forever home is a good option for you? Are you searching for a rescue organization to donate money or time? Chinchilla Rescues can help.
Our goal is to help pet chinchilla owners avoid the tragedy of dumping, kill shelters, and the dangers of “Free to Good Home.”
This list of volunteers allows you to find someone near you who is familiar with chinnies to possibly take in rescues or provide you with a rescue chin. Use the contact information below to get in touch with rescuers near you. Not all volunteers listed are guaranteed to have space available at all times. Rescues that come with cages and food may be easier to place. Please contact these places directly. Transportation may be arranged through rescue volunteers, when available.
This information has been placed on ChinchillaStuff.com as a means of easier access to direct information. ChinchillaStuff.com cannot guarantee care for animals placed in rescue. It is your responsibility to determine whether or not the rescuer you contact is fit to take in an animal.
If you are not on this list but would like to be or if your information needs to be removed or corrected, please contact us with the full details.
The map below is interactive. Click on the state where you would like to find a rescue location and it will take you to each person who might be available to assist in that particular state. If you do not find a rescue location in your state, please check the surrounding states for possible locations.

- Kristen and Tim King
Location: Chicago, IL
Specifics regarding taking in chins: Open to rescuing any chins. After rescuing Lola, the Kings have seen how horribly chins have been treated by those who don’t understand them or can’t take care of them. They would rather take in the chins than see them be sold or dropped off anywhere just to get rid of them.

- Tammy OHagan
Location: Evansville, WV
Phone: (304) 216-7620
Specifics regarding taking in chins: I strongly request that all chinchillas be at least moderately healthy. Fur-chewing, shyness and/or urinating at strangers, etc. are okay. For chinchillas with more serious problems (such as fur fungus, diarrhea, etc.) please contact me. I may still be able to take the chinchilla in or find someone else who can. Cages can become rather expensive and all chins need to be quarantined before being introduced to other chins so please be prepared to provide a cage (small or large)
